I neri sono diversi dai bianchi. È innegabile.
Studiandoli nella storia, conoscendone personalmente, constato davvero che sono diversi da noi bianchi.
Purtroppo ancora non ho trovato un solo campo in cui i bianchi sono migliori dei neri.
Continuo a cercare.

Ricordo che il primo libro che lessi interamente da solo fu “La capanna dello zio Tom”.
Quando vedevo film o sentivo racconti sugli schiavi neri, pensavo fossero meri racconti di fantasia.

Ho avuto la fortuna di crescere in una terra che da millenni accoglie con gioia le etnie differenti e con ammirazione ha sempre visto del potenziale nelle diversità.
Gente con un bagaglio culturale, culinario, comportamentale diverso.
Ho appreso delle discriminazioni razziali dai libri di storia e crescendo dai media. Grazie al cielo questo stupido odio non mi ha permeato.

Diventando più grande e studiando la storia sono tristemente venuto a sapere che la schiavitù e l’umiliazione dei neri era successa davvero. Ma ero talmente scioccato da non capirne il motivo.
Perché mai un essere umano dovrebbe ridurre in schiavitù un altro essere umano?

Agli esami di licenza media chiesero di presentare una tesina che raccogliesse un argomento per materia tutte collegate tra loro.
Naturalmente la mia ricerca fu indirizzata sulla violazione dei diritti umani nella schiavitù dei neri e la nascita della musica Soul, che io amo, e che trovo unico parto positivo di quello scempio.
Ho compreso col passare del tempo che i neri furono ridotti in schiavitù perché fisicamente più prestanti dei bianchi e completamente privi di malignità di pensiero ed azione.

Ma a tutt’oggi l’emancipazione del popolo di pelle nera, sofferta e tribolata nel corso dei secoli, non è ancora completa. Molte ragazze nere hanno ancora difficoltà a viaggiare da sole nel mondo.

È per questo che è nata la Black Girl Travel: una agenzia turistica che si occupa a tutto tondo di viaggi per ragazze nere afro-americane.
L’organizzazione va da tour turistici con guida in zone archeologiche e monumentali, allo shopping, alle serate nei migliori locali della movida capitolina.
Un’attività che va per la maggiore, è il tour di Roma in sella ad una vespa, dove ogni ragazza può scegliersi il proprio conducente tra tanti bei ragazzi.
Dalla a alla z riesce ad offrire qualsiasi cosa una ragazza americana si aspetta da Roma e dintorni, dato che Roma nell’immaginario straniero, ma soprattutto americano, è idealizzata come il posto romantico per eccellenza.
Inoltre le ragazze americane sono attratte dal genere maschile italiano tanto quanto gli italiani amano le donne di ogni nazionalità.
Cosa alla quale non sono abituate le ragazze nere americane, a detta di Fleacé Weaver, ideatrice e direttrice della Black Girl Travel, è l’eccessivo carico di attenzioni e gentilezze che sono soliti fare i ragazzi italiani alle ragazze.

La Black Girl Travel offre un viaggio confortevole in compagnia di altre ragazze che condividono gli stessi interessi e le stesse insicurezze, creando gruppo e rafforzando la fiducia in se stessi.
Molte di esse prenotano il viaggio con delle amiche, altre da sole, sicure comunque di trovare la sicurezza di un gruppo e la indipendenza di partire da sole; anche perché la per la maggior parte di loro è la prima volta che vanno all’estero. Così la Black Girl Travel diventa il loro portale per il mondo. Le ragazze hanno ribattezzato Fleacé il “pifferaio magico dei viaggi al femminile delle afro-americane”.

Fleacé ed il suo gruppo di ragazze mi fanno sentire speciale ogni volta che esco con loro.
Ragazze con una gran gioia di vivere, quasi contagiosa.
Hanno sempre qualcosa in programma e un argomento da trattare.
Sempre allegre e grintose.

Giusto pochi giorni fa, Fleacé ha organizzato una “soul food dinner” a casa sua.
Io ero tra gli invitati.
Il “soul food” è tutto quel cibo che gli schiavi afro-americani mangiavano ai tempi delle schiavitù. Ricette create con i pochi ingredienti a loro disposizione, e che si tramandano di generazione in generazione. Naturalmente i sapori delle “soul food dinner” di oggi sono arricchiti con alcuni prodotti contemporanei, ma vi assicuro che anche le pietanze base sono straordinarie. Ho fatto il bis di ogni pietanza! Soprattutto della zuppa di buonissime patate dolci, del pollo fritto con il Cisco (uno strutto naturale), della carne di manzo cotta con salsa di pomodoro a fuoco lento ed accompagnata con riso, del cavolfiore cotto con il bacon, e della purea di patate e carciofi.

Fleacéè mi racconta che l’idea è nata nel 2006, notando che il 67% delle ragazze che frequentavano il suo social network Blackweekly.com – un social con più di 23.000 membri nella sola area di Los Angeles – erano nere, single, in cerca di un uomo; con voglia di viaggiare, ma non da sole.

“Ricordati quali erano i tuoi sogni da piccolo, e scoprirai quali sono le tue passioni nella vita”.

Il suo era di viaggiare in giro per il mondo.
Ed anche lei, come me, tramuta i sogni in obiettivi.

Blacks are different from Whites.
This is undeniable.
By studying them in history, and personal experience, I find that they really are different from us white people.
Unfortunately I still have not found a single field in which whites are better than blacks.
I keep searching.

I remember the first book I read entirely on my own was “Uncle Tom’s Cabin “.
When I saw  movies or heard stories about enslaved blacks, I thought those were mere fairy tales. I was lucky enough to grow up in a land that for thousands of years welcomed with joy and admiration different ethnicities and has always seen the potential in diversity. People with a culture, behavior and cuisine different than ours.
I learned of racial discrimination from the history books and later growing up more from the media. Thank goodness this stupid hate did not permeate me.  Studying history I sadly came to know that slavery and humiliation of blacks did really happen.  I was so shocked  and could not understand why.

Why should a human being enslave another human being?

In exams in middle school I was asked to write a paper for a topic that would put my studies all together. Of course, my research was directed on the violation of human rights and the slavery of blacks and the Birth of Soul music, which I love. Soul Music was I find the only positive born from this destruction .
I realized over time that blacks were enslaved because of their physically higher performance than whites and slavery is completely brutal in thought and action. 

Even today the emancipation of  people of color, who have suffered so much pain and trouble over the centuries, is not yet complete. In our modern world many black women still find it difficult to travel alone in the world.

That’s why Black Girl Travel  was born.
A travel agency that deals with all-round travel for  African-American women.
The organization goes on tour with tourist guides to archaeological sites and monuments, shopping, evenings in the best local nightlife our city has to offer.
An activity that is the highlight of the trip, is the tour of Rome on the back seat of a Vespa, where each girl can choose their own driver among many nice guys. From a to z Rome offer anything an American girl would expect from the city that is idealized as the romantic place for excellence. In addition, the American girls are attracted to the Italian males as much as Italians love women of all nationalities. Something to which African American girls are not accustomed to, according to Fleacé Weaver, founder and director of Black Girl Travel.
The women are shocked by the excessive load of attention and kindnesses that Italian guys give to girls.
Bconfidence . Many of them book a trip with some friends, some by themselves, however, because they like the safety of a group  with the independence of travel internationally.

Most of the ladies traveling with their travel are first time international travelers and travel alone.  BGT is their portal to the world.  The girls call Fleacé the “Pied Piper of African-American female travel”.  Where she goes, they follow.

Fleacé and her group of girls make me feel special every time I go out with them. Girls with a passion for life is so contagious. They always have something going on and a story to tell. Always cheerful and bold.

Just a few days ago Fleacé organised Soul food party. Soul food is a big part of African-American culture.  Many dishes where past down from Slavery when Blacks had to create meal from the scarps.  Like Italians during the war, African-Americans during slavery learned to make amazing meals from limited food supplies.

The dishes were all super! I had twice of everything, expecially of: Fried Cabbage with bacon, slow cooked beef and gravy with rice, yams, fried chicken with bbq dipping sauce, mashed potatoes and artichokes with potatoes!

Fleacé tells me that the idea was born in 2006, noting that 67% of girls who attended her social network Blackweekly.com – a social with more than 23,000 members only in the Los Angeles area – were black, single, looking for a man, with a desire to travel, but not alone.
